Yogi Magnetite Iron Ore Project

FIJV’s Yogi Magnetite Mine Project is situated approximately 225 km east-northeast of Geraldton and 15 km northeast of Yalgoo in the mid-west of Western Australia. FIJV acquired the Yogi tenements in 2017, and in late 2019 FIJV started an extensive 12-month exploration program to define further and expand the known Yogi reserve. A total of approximately 60,000 lineal metres of RC, Diamond holes and Hydrological holes were drilled and analysed.  The exploration program confirmed that the Yogi magnetite resource was a viable high-tonnage orebody that is feasible to be developed into a mining operation. The completed hydrological exploration and test work confirmed that the project has sufficient water within its tenements to satisfy its production requirements.

The first phase of the Yogi Magnetite Mine Project will produce 5 million tons of Magnetite Concentrate annually. The ore will be processed using crushing, grinding and magnetic separation to produce the magnetite concentrate. This will be achieved by utilising 2 x 2.5 million ton per annum separation plants. The concentrate will be pumped in slurry form via a 100-kilometre overland pipeline to a concentrate dewatering plant located near Mullewa, some 130 kilometres east of Geraldton. The concentrate will be dewatered and reduced to a filter cake that will then be loaded onto trains at the Mullewa dewatering site and transported into the Port of Geraldton for export to the world markets. 88%-90% of the water used to transport the concentrate to Mullewa will be recovered and returned to the Yogi plant via a return water pipeline and reintroduced back into the milling process.

FIJV will further conserve water by utilising a dry stack tailing facility which will recover approximately 82% of the water from the waste tailings. In all, approximately 84% - 86% of the water used in processing the ore and the transportation of the concentrate will be recovered and reused, which adds a major benefit to the project by conserving water.

Project planning and approvals are well advanced, preconstruction works are scheduled to commence Q4/2023, with main construction starting Q2/2024. Construction and commissioning will be completed by the end of Q1/2027. The first shipment of magnetite concentrate is scheduled to leave Geraldton Port in Q2 2027. Mining activities are scheduled to start 14 months prior to commissioning.

During construction, it is estimated that 1000 people will be employed across the project, Yogi, pipelines, Concentrate Dewatering plant and Port Facilities in Geraldton. A 1000-room state-of-the-art accommodation village will be constructed at Yogi and a 240-room village at Mullewa.

During operation, FIJV will employ approximately 700 permanent employees across the three sites, Yogi, Mullewa and Geraldton. FIJV will actively recruit within the Midwest and offer a combination of Drive In, Drive Out and Bus In, and Bus out for local employees. A jet-class all-weather airport will also be constructed at Yalgoo to accommodate FIFO workers.
